Mitigation: enable Patreon’s web-only billing toggle before October 31, 2026. Direct all YouTube description links, Instagram bio links, and Ravelry project links to the Patreon web URL rather than the Patreon app deeplink. Web-subscribing patrons are not billed through Apple IAP and the 30% fee does not apply to their subscriptions. Existing patrons who are already subscribed through iOS remain on Apple billing; the web-only toggle applies only to new subscriptions. To migrate existing iOS-billed patrons to web billing, communicate directly (via Patreon posts, email, or community messages) that patrons can cancel their iOS subscription, wait for the current paid period to end, and re-subscribe via the web URL for the same benefits at the same price — with the Apple fee removed from the creator’s side.
