Patreon alternatives for podcasters in 2026

Podcast audiences are the most iOS-skewed creator audience on the internet. That's the Apple-tax problem, in one sentence. Below: which Patreon alternatives actually deliver private RSS, what each one keeps from a typical $4,200/mo show, and where the gotchas hide.

Why podcasters lose more than most

The average podcast paid-membership audience is somewhere between 75% and 95% iOS, depending on the show. Apple Podcasts is where podcasts live; iPhones are where Apple Podcasts lives. So when Patreon's 30% Apple-IAP fee starts billing on November 1, 2026, podcasters take the cut at the high end of the loss range — not the $756/mo a 60%-iOS creator loses, but closer to $1,000–$1,200/mo on the same revenue. Web-only Patreon recovers most of it, but at the cost of a fan-side migration we cover in the web-only explainer.

The four podcaster requirements

A Patreon alternative for a podcaster is not the same thing as a Patreon alternative for a vlogger. Four requirements that filter the field down hard:

  1. Private RSS per subscriber. Bonus episodes have to land in Overcast, Pocket Casts, Apple Podcasts via "Add by URL". A platform that can't issue a per-subscriber feed is selling you a download page.
  2. One-click feed revocation on cancel. When a member cancels, their feed token has to die. Otherwise the URL gets pasted into a Discord and your back-catalogue leaks.
  3. Stripe Checkout, not in-app purchase. The whole point. If billing rides through Apple, you're back to −30%.
  4. Discord role on payment. Most paid-podcast communities live in Discord. Manual role assignment doesn't scale past ten subscribers.

Most of the eight platforms in our alternatives ledger meet two of these. Four meet all four.

The four that qualify

Patreon Pro · web-only configuration

Patreon 8% Pro fee−$336/mo
Payment processing (~2.9% + $0.30)−$137/mo

You keep$3,727/mo

Patreon's own escape hatch — disable iOS billing in settings, fans subscribe through a browser. RSS works as before. The catch is migration: every iOS-billed fan has to re-enter card details on the web in their first renewal window, and 5–15% won't.

Memberful Pro · for established shows

Memberful Pro plan flat−$25/mo
Memberful 4.9% transaction fee−$206/mo
Payment processing (~2.9% + $0.30)−$137/mo

You keep$3,832/mo

Native private-RSS support, Stripe-backed, Discord integration via Memberful's Discord app. The 4.9% transaction fee on top of the flat plan is the price for a polished podcaster surface — sane choice if you want a hosted dashboard you never have to think about.

Supercast · podcaster-specific

Supercast 8% platform fee−$336/mo
Payment processing (~2.9% + $0.30)−$137/mo

You keep$3,727/mo

Built end-to-end for podcasters: bring-your-own-domain private feed, web checkout, Apple Podcasts subscription URL flow. Ties Patreon Pro on take rate; differentiator is the podcaster-first onboarding (RSS-first, not post-feed-first) and a marketplace for cross-promotion.

Self-hosted on Stripe (KeepTier + private-feed gateway)

KeepTier flat plan−$9/mo
Payment processing (~2.9% + $0.30)−$137/mo

You keep$4,054/mo

The flat-fee bucket. KeepTier hosts the membership page and assigns the Discord role; the private RSS feed lives in your existing podcast host (Transistor, Captivate, Castos all support per-subscriber feed tokens issued via webhook). One Stripe webhook, two destinations. No platform percentage on subscription revenue — only the flat $9/mo for the page itself.

What the receipts don't show

The take-rate gap on this band is $327/mo between Patreon web-only and KeepTier — about $3,900/yr. Worth switching infrastructure? Three things the dollar number doesn't price:

Receipts use the same baseline as the alternatives ledger: $4,200/mo in subscription revenue, fifty active subscribers, Stripe at the standard 2.9% + $0.30 US card-present rate. Podcast-iOS share assumed at the 60% band for parity with the other ledger pages; if your show runs hotter (80%+), the Patreon-iOS-mixed loss column from the Apple-tax explainer applies.
