How to cancel a Patreon subscription
The steps differ depending on whether you originally subscribed on the web (Stripe billing) or through the iOS app (Apple billing). Getting this wrong means you're still being charged after you think you've canceled.
Cancel on the web (Stripe billing)
This applies if you subscribed at patreon.com on a browser or
through the Android app. Use this method for most Patreon subscriptions
before November 1, 2026.
- Log in at
patreon.com. - Click your profile picture (top right) → Memberships.
- Find the creator you want to cancel.
- Click the three-dot menu (⋯) to the right of their name.
- Click Edit membership.
- Click Cancel membership at the bottom of the panel.
- Confirm the cancellation when prompted.
Your access continues until the end of the current billing period. You will not be charged again. No refund is issued for the days remaining.
Cancel through Apple (iOS in-app purchase billing)
If you subscribed through the Patreon iOS app and paid with Apple Pay or your Apple ID, the subscription is managed by Apple — not Patreon. Canceling through Patreon's website or app does nothing for Apple-billed subscriptions. You must cancel through iOS Settings.
- Open iOS Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Find Patreon in the list.
- Tap it → Cancel Subscription.
- Confirm when prompted.
After November 1, 2026, new Patreon subscriptions initiated through the iOS app will route through Apple's payment system. If you subscribe to a creator's Patreon after that date using the iOS app, you must cancel through iOS Settings, not Patreon's website.
Cancel through Apple on Mac (Apple Podcasts or browser)
On a Mac, Apple-billed subscriptions are managed in the App Store: App Store → your name (bottom left) → Subscriptions → find Patreon → Cancel. Or in System Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → Manage → Subscriptions.
What happens after you cancel
| What you had | What happens at billing period end |
|---|---|
| Patron-only posts | Lose access — posts become locked or hidden |
| Discord role | Revoked automatically by Patreon bot |
| Private podcast RSS feed | Feed URL deactivated — no new episodes delivered |
| Patron message history | Retained in your Patreon inbox (read-only) |
| Founding member or grandfathered rate | Lost permanently — re-subscribing starts at current price |
Access loss happens at the billing cycle end, not at the moment of cancellation. If you cancel mid-month, you have access until the date you were next due to be charged.
Refunds after cancellation
Patreon does not issue automatic refunds on cancellation. You are canceling future renewals — your paid period runs to completion.
For a billing error or unintended charge, contact Patreon support at
support.patreon.com within 30 days.
Select the category Billing issue / I was charged unexpectedly
and include the charge date and amount.
For subscriptions managed through Apple: refund requests go to Apple, not
Patreon. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your
Apple ID, find the charge, and select Request a refund.
Apple reviews refund requests individually.
Pausing instead of canceling
Patreon allows patrons to pause a membership for 1 to 6 months. During a pause: no charge, no patron access. When the pause period ends, the subscription resumes automatically at the same price and tier — including any founding member or grandfathered rate.
To pause: Memberships → three-dot menu → Edit membership → Pause membership → select pause duration. This is the right option if you want to take a break without losing a special rate.
Frequently asked questions
How do I cancel a Patreon subscription on the web?
Log in → profile picture → Memberships → three-dot menu next to the creator → Edit membership → Cancel membership → confirm. Access continues until the end of the billing period.
How do I cancel a Patreon subscription on iPhone?
If you subscribed through the iOS app (Apple billing): iOS Settings
→ your name → Subscriptions → Patreon → Cancel Subscription.
If you subscribed on the web (Stripe billing): go to
patreon.com/memberships in a browser — the iOS
Patreon app cannot cancel web-billed subscriptions.
What happens to my access after I cancel?
Access continues until the end of the current billing period. After that: patron-only posts are locked, Discord roles are revoked, private RSS feeds stop delivering new episodes. You are not charged again.
Will I get a refund when I cancel Patreon?
No automatic refund. You cancel future renewals; the current period
runs to completion. For a billing error, contact Patreon support within
30 days. For Apple-billed subscriptions, request a refund at
reportaproblem.apple.com.
Can I pause instead of cancel?
Yes. Memberships → Edit membership → Pause membership → select 1–6 months. No charge during pause; access resumes automatically when the pause ends, preserving any grandfathered rate.
How do I cancel all Patreon subscriptions at once?
There is no "cancel all" button. Cancel each creator individually at
patreon.com/memberships. Deleting your Patreon account
cancels all memberships but is permanent.
