Patreon cut percentage in 2026: exact fees at every pledge amount

Patreon's platform fee is 8% on the Pro plan — but that's not the full cut. Stripe processing adds 2.9% plus a flat $0.30, and after November 1, 2026, iOS-billed subscribers trigger Apple's 30% IAP fee on top. Because of the flat $0.30, the total percentage taken varies by pledge size.

Why the percentage is not flat

Stripe charges a flat $0.30 per transaction regardless of pledge size. On a $5 pledge, that $0.30 is 6% of the payment. On a $25 pledge, it's 1.2%. This makes smaller tiers proportionally more expensive for creators. Pricing below $5 is economically poor — the $0.30 flat fee alone exceeds 6% of revenue at those amounts.

How to avoid the iOS cut

Patreon added a web-only billing toggle to creator settings. When enabled, iOS users are redirected to subscribe on the web, avoiding Apple's 30%. Existing iOS-billed patrons are not retroactively moved. A platform built exclusively on web Stripe Checkout — like KeepTier — avoids the problem structurally with no toggle required.
