Terms
KeepTier is a pre-revenue project run by a single builder. The paid creator-membership product is on the waitlist; today the public surface is a marketing site, the free Apple-Tax Calculator, an embeddable receipt widget, and a build-in-public blog. By using keeptier.com, the calculator, the widget, or the waitlist, you accept the terms below. They are short on purpose.
What this site is
- A static marketing site at
keeptier.com(withkeeptier.85-9-209-84.sslip.ioas a redundant fallback hostname) describing a forthcoming creator-membership product. - A free Apple-Tax Calculator at
/#calc— paste your monthly Patreon revenue and iOS share, see what Apple takes on November 1, 2026. - A waitlist that accepts an email address, posts it to our own server, and stores it in a SQLite file we operate.
- An embeddable widget at
/embed.jsthat creators can drop on their own site to render an Apple-Tax Receipt card per pricing tier. - A "build in public" blog under
/blog/, comparison pages under/compare/, and programmatic SEO pages under/seo/— all editorial.
That is the entire scope today. There is no live paid product, no creator account, no dashboard, no payment processor wired up to the public surface, no SLA. When any of those land, this page will be updated to cover them.
Who runs it
KeepTier is operated by a single individual builder posting under @bitinvestigator on X. There is no incorporated company behind it yet. When and if a company is formed, this section will name it. Until then, all references to "we", "us", "our" mean the builder.
What you may do
- Read everything on the site.
- Run the Apple-Tax Calculator with your own numbers, as many times as you like. The math runs in your browser; we don't see it.
- Download, copy, or post the share-card image the calculator renders. The image is yours to use however you like.
- Embed the
/embed.jswidget on your own site, free of charge, on the conditions in the "Embeddable widget" section below. - Quote the blog, comparison pages, and SEO pages with attribution and a link back to the source URL.
- Submit your own email to the waitlist, once.
- Email us at the addresses on the privacy page.
What you may NOT do
- Submit someone else's email to the waitlist without their permission.
- Submit fake, throwaway-at-scale, or generated emails to inflate the waitlist count.
- Stamp a calculator share-card with a Patreon handle that isn't yours, then post it as if it were the named creator's own loss number. The handle field is a stamp, not a verified claim — misrepresenting it is on you, not on us.
- Scrape the site at a rate that materially affects its performance for other readers (a sane crawler with backoff is fine;
robots.txtdocuments what's open to which bots). - Probe the waitlist endpoint or any future API for vulnerabilities without contacting us first. If you believe you've found one, email security@keeptier.com with the details — we won't sue you for a good-faith disclosure.
- Use the KeepTier name, the "Keep your tier. Lose the Apple tax." tagline, the
logo.svgmark, or the brand palette in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership, or affiliation that doesn't exist. - Re-host the embed widget under a different brand or strip the "Built with KeepTier" attribution from it.
Apple-Tax Calculator
The calculator is provided for informational purposes only. It applies a small set of public, documented rates to numbers you enter:
- Patreon Pro plan: 8% commission (published).
- Apple iOS in-app-purchase: 30% (Apple's published rate, applied to Patreon's iOS subscriptions starting November 1, 2026 per Patreon's own creator notice).
- Stripe processing on KeepTier: ~2.9% + $0.30 per transaction (Stripe's standard US rate; international varies).
Your actual take-home depends on your tier mix, monthly vs annual billing, payment-method distribution, currency conversion, refunds, chargebacks, VAT remittance, and how many of your iOS fans switch to web checkout once Apple's fee lands. Two creators with the same headline revenue can land far apart on a year-end statement. Treat the calculator's output as the floor of a discussion, not a tax document.
Embeddable widget
The widget at https://keeptier.com/embed.js is free for any creator to embed on any site they own or are authorised to publish on. The terms of the embed:
- Load the script straight from
keeptier.com— don't re-host it under your own domain. We push fixes to it; mirror copies will go stale on the same fee constants the homepage calculator uses, and your fans will see numbers that don't match the rest of the internet. - Don't strip the "Built with KeepTier" attribution link or the
data-hrefback-link tokeeptier.com. - Don't restyle the receipt to misrepresent the math (e.g. by hiding the "what Apple takes" row). The widget is permitted to inherit page typography, but the receipt's three rows — Patreon's cut, Apple's cut, what you keep — must remain visible.
- Don't use the widget on sites whose primary purpose is gambling, adult content involving minors, harassment, or anything illegal in the jurisdiction where the site is hosted.
We can revoke any specific embed by serving a 410 from /embed.js for that referrer, or — in extreme cases — for that domain entirely. We expect not to use this; the rules above are floor, not ceiling.
Waitlist
Joining the waitlist gets you early access to the paid creator product when it opens, plus an occasional weekly "build in public" digest. You can ask to be removed at any time per the privacy page. No marketing drip beyond the digest, no upsell sequence, no third-party offers, no list rentals.
The paid product (when it lands)
The paid KeepTier product — a hosted single-creator membership page at support.yourbrand.com with Stripe Checkout and webhook-driven Discord/Telegram role assignment — is on the roadmap, not on sale. The pricing pages on the homepage and SEO pages name an intended price ($9/month or $79/year, flat). That price is a commitment to the waitlist for at least the first 12 months of the paid product, after which it can change with 30 days' notice. When Stripe Checkout goes live, the paid-product terms (refunds, billing, suspension, churn) will live in this page; until then, anything in this section about pricing is a public commitment, not a contract.
Intellectual property
The KeepTier name, the brand mark in /assets/logo.svg, the "Keep your tier. Lose the Apple tax." tagline, and the editorial copy on this site are owned by the builder. The site's source HTML and CSS are openly viewable but not licensed for reuse without permission. The blog posts, comparison pages, and programmatic SEO pages are licensed CC BY 4.0 unless a specific page says otherwise — quote freely, attribute, and link back. The Apple-Tax Receipt share-card image you generate from the calculator is yours to use as you see fit; we claim no license over the image once it leaves your browser.
No warranty
The site, the calculator, the embed widget, the blog, the waitlist, and any code snippets shown are provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. The calculator's output is an estimate; do not rely on it as a substitute for a tax advisor, a Patreon-side audit, or the eventual Patreon creator dashboard for the iOS fee passthrough.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the builder is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of keeptier.com, the calculator, the embed widget, the waitlist, or any of the editorial content — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Aggregate liability for direct damages, where it cannot be excluded, is capped at USD $50 or the amount you have paid for use of keeptier.com, whichever is greater. (Today, you have not paid us anything.)
Changes
We may update these terms in place. The "effective" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes (new product surface at paid-launch, new restrictions, change of operator) will be flagged in the next blog post and at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept it; if you don't, ask us to delete your waitlist entry per the privacy page and stop using the site.
Termination
We can remove a waitlist entry, block an IP, revoke an embed, or end your access to the site at any time if you violate these terms or use the site in a way that endangers it for other readers. You can stop using the site at any time, for any reason or none.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the builder is ordinarily resident. Disputes arising from these terms or the use of the site will be brought in the courts of that jurisdiction. Where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence apply, those override anything in this section that would otherwise reduce your statutory rights.
Severability
If a court finds any clause of these terms unenforceable, the rest remain in effect; the unenforceable clause is to be read down to the narrowest form that is enforceable.
